Ich ist ja schon schwer genug: Da ist das Ich, das unreflektiert in der Gegend west, direkt und mit sich kaum beschäftigt. Da ist das Ich im Spiegel, mein Ideal, das Begehren, das Vollkommene, das ich gerne wäre. Da ist dann auch - selten genug - die Differenz dieser beiden, die Sicht auf mich aus zweiter Instanz - „von Außen“ - wo ich denn zwischen dem, was ich gern wäre und dem was ich bin stehe. Und dann kommst du auch noch dazu! Mit deinen vielfachen Ichs und Dus: Passt dein wie- du- dich- gern- hättest zu meinem wie- ich- dich- gern- hätte, passt mein Ichideal zu deinem Du und dein Ich zweiter Betrachtung zu meinem unreflektierten Ich? Wieso spricht man eigentlich von Zweierbeziehung? Wir sind doch mindestens zu sechst.
Musikalisch geht es in diesem Stück um Einheit, genauer um die Annäherung daran. Gleiche Töne aus unterschiedlichen Schichten, ein beinahe Unisono, möglichst starke Differnziertheit, Widerholung der Oberfläche eines zuvor gespielten Klangmaterials etc. Je ähnlicher die Klänge, Lautstärken, Rhythmen sind, desto stärker tritt ihre Unterschiedlichkeit hervor.

Ich (me) is hard enough already: There is me, making and being and not being busy bothering about myself. There is the me in the mirror, the one I’d like to be, my ideal, my desire. And there is – rare enough – the difference between these two, the gaze from outside where I try to see the difference between the me I’d like to be and the one I actually see me. And then there comes you! With all your different mes and yous: Does your how-you-like-to-be fit to my how-I-like-you-to-be? Does my ideal-me correspond to your you, my unreflected me to your reflected you? Why is it called a two-person relationship – we’re at least six.
Technically the piece is about entity, more precisely about the approximation to it. Same pitches from different layers, an almost unison, on the opposite strong differentiation, repetition of the surface et. Al.
The more alike the sounds, dynamics, rhythms are, the more clear it shows its discrepancy.
